Kettuki – Equal Art & Studio Network & Promotion of Interests

Kettuki is Finland’s nationwide studio network for artists from outside the mainstream art world. Kettuki association was founded in 2002. The association consist of artists, art experts, professionals and over 20 organizations in the field of art, culture and social services. Kettuki is the founder and coordinator of NOA Nordic Outsider Art network. Kettuki’s main goal is equity in art. Kettuki network aims to improve opportunities for people in need of additional support to study and practice art in both professional and recreational contexts.

What we do?

Maintain a register of Finnish artists, works and art studios from outside the mainstream artworld:

Arrange national artist meetings and network seminars

Offer artist mentoring (peer mentoring groups, support from professional artists)

Nominate the Kettuki’s Artist of the Year.

Maintain an exhibition calendar for the field of supported art activities.

Maintain a Finnish national network of art studios

Organize art exhibitions and art projects in collaboration with artists and partner organizations.

Promote and provide information on projects and activities in the field

Maintains Kettuki Art Collection

Produce publications

Kettuki’s Safer Space Principles

Everyone has the right to participate in Kettuki’s activities as themselves and to feel welcome, respected and safe – free from discrimination, harassment and inappropriate behaviour.

A safer space is something we create together. Each of us contributes to a respectful and inclusive atmosphere through our words, actions and choices.

We ask everyone taking part in Kettuki’s activities to commit to these principles:

I respect.

I respect other people, their experiences, boundaries and right to be themselves. I value diversity and treat everyone with dignity.

I listen.

I listen to others and give space to different voices, perspectives and ways of communicating. I am open to learning from others.

I take responsibility.

I take responsibility for my own words and actions. If I make a mistake or cause harm, I am willing to acknowledge it, apologise and learn from the experience.

Together, we create a space where everyone can participate, be heard and encounter art and people with respect.
